Living By The Word

Thank you, dear God, that no matter what my circumstances, as a believer, I can be joyful each day, knowing that my eternal heavenly destiny is secure in Jesus Christ. Please give me the faith and strength to patiently and prayerfully trust You to see me through the storms that are a certainty of life in an evil world. In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen!

  In my hardships and trials, which are certain to come and go, Heavenly Father, give me eyes that see by faith and view my circumstances from not a worldly but an eternal perspective. Help me to grow and mature spiritually as the outcome of my troubles as I cling to my certain hope of a heavenly inheritance in Jesus Christ! In Jesus' precious name, amen.

  "For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." (2 Corinthians 10:12) Although we tend to do it, the Bible says that it is unwise to compare ourselves with other people. We are all unique individuals created by God to serve different purposes according to His perfect will. To compare ourselves to others indicates attitudes of discontentment and covetousness that we as Christians are instructed to avoid. No matter what our circumstances, those of us who love and seek to serve God can be content, knowing by faith that He is working all things to our ultimate good. We can live above life's troublesome circumstances when we focus on God's call on our lives without unfairly comparing ourselves with others.

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19) Jesus is willing and able to meet all of the human needs including the salvation of everyone who trusts in Him as LORD of their lives. Christ warned against living to amass earthly riches that are temporal and passing, directing instead that we seek to lay up heavenly treasures that will last eternally. Put Jesus Christ above the things of this world; choose contentment over covetousness!

"Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4) Just as we lift up our personal petitions to God, let us not forget to pray daily for the health, well-being, and safety of our loved ones, friends, and other people, especially those who are in great need and those who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior! Intercessory prayer can positively change lives!

"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32) Our Heavenly Father who sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to provide for our greatest human need, salvation, can certainly be trusted to supply our every earthly need. God is dependable, trustworthy, and faithful to everyone who comes to Him believing that "He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6) Above all, God is praiseworthy. Live to honor Him today!
