I Still Believe... (April 24, 2023)
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
(Romans
10:9)
Over the course of our lives, we develop personal belief
systems that guide our thoughts, words, and actions. As a kid growing up in a
loving home, I was taught traditional Christian values that define who I am. Today,
however, these cherished principles that I try to live by are under brutal
attack by a worldly society that is quickly turning away from Christian morals
and the absolute truth of God’s inspired Word. At the risk of ridicule and
persecution, Christians must steadfastly defend our deeply held convictions and
boldly obey our command by Jesus Christ to share our faith and the gospel of
salvation with non-believers in a loving way. Modern society falsely claims that
there are many roads to heaven, but the ultimate reality is that Christ is the
only way!
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
What we believe not only impacts our earthly
lives but will determine where we spend eternity. Before raising Lazarus from
the dead, Jesus told his sister Martha this eternal truth, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me
shall never die.” Christ followed that profound
revelation, asking: “Do you believe this?” Martha
replied: “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God,
who is to come into the world.” (John 11:25-27)
We must all answer this same question about Jesus’ deity, “Do you believe
this?” Our answer will decide whether we join Martha forever in the presence of
Christ in heaven or spend eternity apart from the LORD in hell!
“He who
believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son
shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
(John 3:36)
