Nothing is Too Hard for the LORD (April 11, 2023)
“Yours, O Lord, is the
greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in
earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)
Each time that I ponder God’s magnificent creations
and behold His works in my personal life, I am overcome with awe and wonder. The
finite human mind is incapable of fully grasping the infinite, inexhaustible
power of this sovereign LORD who created humanity
in His own image and a universe so vast that it defies our comprehension. Much
too often, however, we tend to restrain what Almighty God can do in our lives
because of our pride and unbelief, putting Him in a box, so to speak, and
failing to give Him the place of highest esteem and priority in our hearts that
He absolutely deserves.
A biblical example that comes to mind is God’s selection
of Abraham to father a great nation, Israel, through which all families and
nations of the earth would be blessed. Abraham’s barren wife Sarah laughed in
disbelief when God told the childless couple that in their old age He would
give them Isaac, the son of promise, and make their descendants as numerous as
the stars. And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah
laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a
child, since I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return
to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Genesis 18:13-14)
Nothing is too difficult for the LORD,
the omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipresent
(everywhere present) God who unconditionally loves us, despite our human
rebelliousness, and mercifully sustains all of creation by His unimaginable
might. Author Andy Murray is quoted as saying, “Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not
only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do. Expect
unexpected things above all that we ask or think.” God’s power is limitless,
inexhaustible! Whosoever trusts in Jesus Christ can tap into His divine
authority through the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer.
“But Jesus looked
at them and said to
them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”" (Matthew 19:26)
