A Relationship with Our Redeemer (May 22, 2023)

It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. (Genesis 2:18)

Life is all about human relationships, the varied ways—from casual to formal—that we are connected or bonded to other people. We are social creatures who need each other! We all require love, encouragement, fellowship, and the multitude of other benefits that interpersonal relations afford. In fact, our relationships with others help to mold and shape how we view ourselves in relation to the world around us.

Attesting to the importance of relationships is an abundance of evidence that when people are isolated from social interaction for extended periods—such as many experienced during the pandemic—they sometimes suffer detrimental emotional and psychological effects. Human relationships, the conglomeration of which is the essence of a society, help to define who we are as individuals and as members of people groups.

This temporal earthly life amounts to the sum of our relationships with many people. Eternal life is all about a personal relationship with one Person, the only One who has ever lived as God and man, Jesus Christ! As sinners, we all need a Savior! Jesus died to reconcile us to a righteous heavenly Father who seeks the ultimate relationship with each of us through His Son. Faith in Christ opens the door to an outpouring of God’s grace and an everlasting relationship with Him!

God created each of us in His own image, desiring to have close fellowship with everyone. The LORD also gave each of us free will that allows us to choose whether to receive or reject Him. Salvation is not about religion; it is about an intimate personal relationship with our Redeemer. Jesus said, “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)
