Who Is Jesus to You? (June 26, 2023)

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

The fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is one of the foundational truths of the Christian faith. God’s beloved and only begotten Son put aside His heavenly glory and made Himself of no reputation, taking on the form of a humble servant made in the likeness of men. As both God and man, Jesus was sent to earth by God the Father on a mission to save us from our sins. The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself and His plan for mankind’s redemption through Christ.

In a discussion of His identity among men during Christ’s earthly ministry, Jesus was told by His disciples that some people said He was John the Baptist, while others perceived Him to be one of the prophets. Jesus then asked His followers this crucial question: “But who do you say that I am?” In a bold confession based on insight from the heavenly Father, Peter answered without hesitation, declaring: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)

Who do you say that Jesus Christ is? Your answer to this crucial question will determine where you spend eternity—in a place of paradise in the presence of the LORD forever or in a place of everlasting punishment apart from God. Either heaven or hell, the choice is yours! Like Peter, let’s recognize by faith that Jesus is, in fact, who the absolute truth of the Holy Scriptures confirms Him to be, the most gracious and loving Son of God and the risen Savior of the world.

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” (1 John 5:20)
