Do You Know Jesus Personally? (September 18, 2023)
“He was in the
world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as
received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who
believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:10-13)
Do I know Jesus
Christ personally? That is the most important question that every living soul
must answer in their heart and mind before their earthly life is over. Each
individual’s answer to this critical question, either affirmatively or
negatively, will determine where that person spends eternity -- in the presence
of the LORD in the paradise of heaven or apart from God in the fiery lake
of hell with Satan. In order to be saved and have everlasting life, everyone
must know Jesus through a faith-based personal relationship with the Son of the
living God. Such an intimate relationship involves regular communication with
the Lord through prayer and Scripture reading, spending quality time with Him,
serving Him obediently, and loving Him wholeheartedly.
Jesus is perhaps the
most well-known person in human history. To varying degrees, multitudes of
people know something about Christ and His earthly life as God incarnate
whether they trust in Him or not. However, it is not enough just to know about
Jesus. Even demons know who Jesus is. “Now
in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he
cried out with a loud voice, saying,
“Let us alone! What
have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I
know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
To joyfully enter
into a saving relationship with Christ and gain access God’s grace, one
must encounter Jesus personally on a spiritual level, receiving Him into their
heart, and permitting Him to engage in communion and fellowship with the
believer. Do you know Jesus personally and recognize Him as “the
Holy One of God?” If so, I encourage you to seek to cultivate a deeper,
more intimate relationship with Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to gradually mold
you into His likeness. If you’ve never experienced Him personally and been
reborn spiritually as a new creation in Christ and a child of God, I urge you
to ask Jesus to forgive your sins, clothe you in His righteousness, and bless
you with a lively everlasting hope that He alone can give!
“For the wages
of sin is death,
but the gift of
God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Romans 6:23)
