 A Living Hope in a Dying World (April 8, 2024)

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness…” (Isaiah 5:20).

When I consider the extreme dangers that threaten our earthly existence, I am shocked that the masses are turning away from God when they should be running to the Almighty as their only refuge and hope. Thank the LORD that regardless of what hardships, sufferings, and persecutions we have to endure in this life, Christians can find encouragement in these difficult times, knowing that while we live here temporarily, this troubled planet is not our permanent residence. As followers of Jesus Christ, adopted children, and heirs of God, we are just earthly pilgrims passing through this dark place. We are on a sojourn of faith to a heavenly home that will be free of the scourges of death, disease, and disaster that afflict a lost world entrapped in sin. We’re bound for an eternal paradise where we will live forever in peace in the glorious presence of our LORD who has liberated us from the bonds of sin and spiritual death.

The deadly threats that we face in a world plagued by pestilence, moral decay, human conflict, and man’s inhumanity to man are sad testaments to Satan’s deceptive power and demonic possession of the earth. As a result, reliance upon God for direction is declining as misguided people seek self-gratification rather than the Savior of the world who died so they could have forgiveness of their sins and eternal security. Increasingly the multitudes do what is right in their own sight rather than live by the truth and wisdom of God’s Word. This apostasy or falling away from the faith was predicted by Jesus as a sign of the approach of end-time tribulation. As we see world events aligning with biblical prophecy and realize the urgency of sharing the gospel, believers must seize every opportunity to tell others about the “living hope” that is ours in a dying world. Our hope is Jesus Christ, the only way to salvation and everlasting life!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:3-5)

  Simply Believe! ( November 2, 2023) “ Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24) Unfortunately, our Christian faith can fluctuate with the changing circumstances of our lives? We are flawed like all human beings, and our trust in God often ebbs or flows depending upon whether or not we’re experiencing happy times or life’s trials. Satan constantly attempts to deceive us, draw us astray in our walk by faith with God, and bring about our ultimate downfall and defeat.
