A Worship-Worthy God (May 6, 2024)

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)

As Christians, we should seize every opportunity to worship an awesome God who sustains our earthly lives and secures our eternal futures. He alone is worthy of our highest praise and deepest gratitude because of His abounding love and His abiding grace. The Psalms are full of calls to worship. “Serve the Lord with gladness“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise…” (Psalm 100: 2, 4). Worship is the humble act of showing reverence, respect, and love for the one true God of glory and grace and should never be restricted to an hour on Sunday morning. Worship is our daily expression of the priority and place of highest prominence that we have reserved for God in our hearts and lives. The late Pastor Dr. Charles Stanley said worship satisfies the intense hunger and thirst for God and His Word that we develop as we come to know Christ and understand that He is our eternal hope.

Viewing our earthly lives as the training ground for eternity, believers should be focused on preparing for our heavenly home where we will worship the LORD forever. As saints redeemed through faith by the blood that Jesus shed for all of humanity on the cross as the sacrificial Lamb of God, we have become children and heirs to the imperishable riches of the God that we were created to glorify and exalt, here and throughout eternity. The apostle John gives us a glimpse of the heavenly worship that we will passionately engage in one glorious day. “Behold a great multitude…crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”” (Revelation 7:9-10). I eagerly anticipate seeing Jesus face to face, feeling His loving embrace, and joyfully worshipping and serving Him eternally in a paradise of perfect peace and harmony!

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain. “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”” (Revelation 5:12, 13)
