Good Overcomes Evil (June 3, 2024)

 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

 Sadly, we live in a fallen society teeming with evil, turmoil, and strife! The planet has become a frightening place where, even relatively serene locales, are no longer immune to the dangers inherent in a wicked world under Satan’s influence. That is certainly not to say, however, that good is non-existent in an increasingly ungodly culture. A closer look reveals that an abundance of unselfish deeds are being done, reflecting that God’s love is manifest through repentant human hearts! Perhaps they don’t get the publicity of the high-profile terrorist attacks, mass slayings, shocking disasters, and appalling tragedies that dominate today’s headlines, but many commendable things are happening in the midst of the evil that abounds. Countless Good Samaritans are engaged in acts of kindness and compassion that contribute to the betterment of a wayward world.

“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good…(Acts 10:38).

It seems that the obvious tilt in the scales toward evil in today’s pagan culture opens wide the door of opportunity to do good works as needy people hunger and thirst for love and understanding. Following Jesus earthly example, Christians are called to step out and satisfy these cravings and meet human needs! We have been directed to be beacons of light, shining brightly for Jesus, and illuminating the darkness that engulfs the world. God created us to honor and glorify Him by serving others and allowing His love to flow through us to them. Believers should purpose to share with a world filled with hatred and inhumanity God’s love and mercy. Each day we should seek to be a blessing to other people by showing them the love of Christ through humble acts of thoughtfulness, kindness, and sympathy. Be creative! Overcome evil by doing good!

  Simply Believe! ( November 2, 2023) “ Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24) Unfortunately, our Christian faith can fluctuate with the changing circumstances of our lives? We are flawed like all human beings, and our trust in God often ebbs or flows depending upon whether or not we’re experiencing happy times or life’s trials. Satan constantly attempts to deceive us, draw us astray in our walk by faith with God, and bring about our ultimate downfall and defeat. However, we must remember that He who is in us—Jesus Christ living in our hearts through the Holy Spirit— “is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) Simply believe!
