What Do You Seek? (June 17, 2024)

"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)

Filled with deep desires, individual goals, cherished dreams, and personal longings, each of God’s human creations is searching for fulfillment as we live our lives every day. Unfortunately, many people, under satanic worldly deception, seek selfish gratification through the prideful pursuit of riches, pleasure, and worldly acclaim, thereby largely shutting God, the source of all of life’s blessings, out of their lives. Such earthly endeavors ultimately leave us desperately empty and hopelessly striving for more. Scripture teaches that we should seek God above our fleshly lusts in order to find genuine purpose and meaning in life.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Faithful followers of Jesus Christ know from experience that lasting contentment cannot be found in the passing things of this material world. Only by actively involving God in our lives spiritually through a personal, faith-based relationship with Jesus can our God-given purpose be achieved and our deepest desires satisfied, now and eternally. Even if temporarily realized through human strivings, earthy glory, worldly fortune, and material possessions ultimately lose their luster and vanish, leaving a void that only Christ can fill. In our search for lasting fulfillment, let’s put God first, and the abundance and eternality of life we all seek will be found!
