“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (I Timothy 6:10)

There is nothing wrong with riches, but having great wealth tends to generate attitudes of pride which God hates. The Bible teaches believers to trust in God, not in uncertain worldly riches. We are cautioned to avoid amassing earthly wealth at the expense of neglecting to develop a personal, faith-based relationship with the LORD that is essential for salvation.
Realizing that all we have is God-given, we overcome haughtiness and prideful thinking by humbly serving the needs of others, giving generously, and putting the eternal God of the universe above the passing things of this world. Almighty God should be our first love and our highest priority!
