“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)

As yesterday’s presidential election clearly indicated, our nation, having strayed far from its Christian roots, is sharply divided and mired in discord and dissension. Whether or not you are pleased with the outcome of this bitter, hard-fought race, it is time to put our differences aside and come together in oneness of purpose and national unity. Living in a turbulent and treacherous world, we face mammoth problems that cannot be resolved unless we address them as a unified people willing to compromise and live together in relative harmony despite our diversity of opinions. After all, we are American citizens, and it is our duty to work in unison in an effort to serve the best interests of our country.
Christians must pray that God will raise up courageous men and women of vision who will seek to selflessly lead the United States, rather than pridefully pursue their own personal political agendas. We need bold leaders of faith who are not afraid to guide this nation back to the moral standards and Christian principles upon which it was founded, but has largely abandoned over the past 60 years, putting a country that once trusted God at risk of His judgment. We must recognize that it is our responsibility to be good stewards of the traditions and values that once made this land a great and godly nation. Our only hope is to move forward together as “one nation” that again reveres and respects the God who is in sovereign control of all His creations.
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
