The Light that Leads to Life (November 14, 2025)
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” (Ephesians 5:8)
Thankfully, God’s beloved Son Jesus Christ, “the light of the world” (John 8:12), lives in the hearts of believers to guide us through the shadows of an evil society in a world that seems to grow darker by the day. Living under the influence of a fallen world and according to one’s own free will is like stumbling aimlessly in the dark! But when enlightened by God’s Word, we elect to receive His divine grace that flows through Christ, our way becomes clear, and our lives take on true meaning and purpose
Scripture reveals that the only way to attain abundant and eternal life, here on earth and in the hereafter, is to live by faith in Christ, reflecting His everlasting light to those who have chosen to walk in worldly darkness that obscures human sin. We are called to be lamps for Jesus by expressing our love for God and humanity through acts of faithful service. We seek to brightly shine as beacons that guide unbelievers to step into the light of Jesus, the only hope of salvation and the light that leads to life.
Living in ways that reflect Jesus’ presence in our hearts involves putting others above ourselves and our LORD above all! We become “children of light” when we surrender our lives to His control, allowing God’s Holy Spirit to live through us and to shine the light of Jesus’ love for others to see. Having died to free us of our sins and give us eternal security, Jesus has gone to prepare our heavenly homes and has instructed us to shine His light and share His love until His soon return.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
