Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)

One blessing that is absolutely necessary in order to live a Christian lifestyle in an ungodly world is encouragement. Let’s face it—life is tough! The road sometimes gets rocky! We all face trials and hardships along the way! Without the support and inspiration of other people, we can quickly become discouraged as we seek to live in a manner that pleases God. The encouragement of our families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and other people makes facing life’s difficulties and challenges much easier. A great source of encouragement for Christians is a loving church family whose members offer uplifting support that is crucial in the pursuit of our mission to share the love and shine the light of Jesus Christ into a world that grows darker by the day.

“But exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” (Hebrews 3:13)

Encouragement breeds hope, inspiring us to carry on when the burdens of life seem unbearable. We show the love, compassion, and humility that were hallmarks of Jesus’ earthly ministry when we encourage one another. Loving reassurance offered by others helps us through times of disappointment, disruption, and despair that test our faith. As an integral part of our personal witness for Christ, let’s purpose to be encouragers! In a worldly culture in which Christians are being ridiculed and persecuted, a little encouragement goes a long way! We show others a portrait of Jesus when we uplift, comfort, and inspire them with our warm smiles, helping hands, exhilarating words, loving hearts, servant’s attitudes, and indisputable Christian testimonies.

“Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:11)
