Men and Woman of Gratitude (Daily Devotion November 27, 2025)

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. “Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:4)

As Christians, we should be men and women of gratitude. If we take a personal inventory of our lives, we can clearly see that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are richly blessed, both now and eternally. God wants us to recognize that He, in His infinite goodness, is the source of every good and perfect gift that we receive and to develop attitudes of gratitude. And He calls us to exemplify or model that thankfulness to others as we live our lives every day.

The Bible is filled with commands to give thanks to God. A prime example is Psalm 106:1 that instructs: “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Thankfulness not only conforms to God’s will but it blesses us in many ways. Thanksgiving keeps our hearts in a right relationship to God. Without gratitude, we can become prideful and self-centered, falsely thinking that our achievements are of our own doing when God is the One who enables us.

As covetous human beings, we tend to focus on what we don’t have. By giving thanks to God continually, we are reminded of how much we do have and often take for granted. A mindset of gratitude also keeps bitterness at bay. Think about it; we cannot be thankful and bitter at the same time. Even in times of trouble, we can have the joy of knowing that God is working all of our circumstances together for good to those who love Him and seek to serve His purpose.

We have so much to be thankful for, including the greatest of all blessings: God’s grace and His most precious and priceless gift of everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ who paid the price for our sins so that we could be credited with our Savior’s righteousness in God’s sight. So let’s make today and every day an occasion for thanksgiving, following Paul’s instruction to believers in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as we all seek to be men and women of gratitude and seek to cultivate thankful hearts in our children.
