  God’s Sovereign Sufficiency ( March 5, 2026) “ Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” (1 Samuel 30:6) Hunted by King Saul of Israel who sought to kill him, David and his band of 600 men fled to the land of the Philistines. Once, returning from a military campaign, David and his band of warriors found that the Philistine city where they had been given refuge had been completely burned and their women and children, including David’s two wives, taken captive during an enemy raid. Greatly distressed and fearing for his own life, David refused to wallow in self-pity or rely upon his own faculties and wisdom.   Shielded by Faith ( March 3, 2026) “ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) To pursue a Christian lifestyle is to walk by faith, regardless of our circumstances, and to share with others the eternal hope that we have in the L ORD Jesus Christ, “the author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2) Our faith is tried and tested as God seeks to help us to mature spiritually and lead us into a deeper personal relationship with Him. The hardships that we face are often used by God to build within us Christlike character and cultivate godly qualities that help us to overcome fleshly temptations to sin and to be more productive or fruitful in our daily walk of faith. As spiritual warfare, an ongoing battle for our souls is waged unseen around us, Satan, the master of deception and lies, lurks in life’s dark shadows trying to rob us of our faith and destroy our lives, here and hereafter.
