Shielded by Faith (March 3, 2026)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
To pursue a Christian lifestyle is to walk by faith, regardless of our circumstances, and to share with others the eternal hope that we have in the LORD Jesus Christ, “the author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2) Our faith is tried and tested as God seeks to help us to mature spiritually and lead us into a deeper personal relationship with Him. The hardships that we face are often used by God to build within us Christlike character and cultivate godly qualities that help us to overcome fleshly temptations to sin and to be more productive or fruitful in our daily walk of faith.
As spiritual warfare, an ongoing battle for our souls is waged unseen around us, Satan, the master of deception and lies, lurks in life’s dark shadows trying to rob us of our faith and destroy our lives, here and hereafter. This cunning enemy attempts to fill our minds with anxiety, worry, and doubt, causing our trust to waver and leading us to stray from under the protective defenses that God graciously provides to those who belong to Christ. When faith is threatened by fear, remember that God has promised to “supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
A sovereign God has given us all we that is required to triumphantly resist the devil’s blatant attacks. The shield of faith is a key piece of the invincible armor with which the LORD equips the saints. By the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, the devil has no authority over believers clothed in the armaments of faith, salvation, righteousness, truth, the gospel of peace, the Sword of the Spirit (God’s Word), and prayer. Shielded by faith, we share the victory over Satan achieved by the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, our Savior. Faith empowers us to live joyfully and rejoice in the hope of a heavenly inheritance!
“Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8-9)
