 The Everlasting Beauty of Belonging to Jesus (June 2, 2023)

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8) 

The God-bestowed beauty of a flower is stunningly full, but suddenly fleeting and we must behold it while we can. Such is also the fate of our life here on earth, a mere vapor that soon vanishes, requiring that we be good stewards of the time God grants us. 

“As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone. And its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him…” (Psalm 103:15-17). 

Every time I admire the beauty of a flower or any of God’s other magnificent creations, I thank God the Father for the truth of His eternal Word that Jesus Christ has built the bridge from this temporal earthly life to an eternity in a heavenly paradise the unimaginable beauty of which will never fade away. Praise God for the gift of everlasting life that He freely gives to all who choose to receive His grace offered exclusively through faith in His Son and our risen Savior, Christ the LORD. 

Jesus alone offers humanity the imperishable beauty of eternity in His glorious presence. In Christ, despite the troubles and sorrows that this life brings, no matter what our circumstances, we can find comfort and hope each day in the joy of our salvation! 

In the words of Jesus Himself, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears the word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” (John 5:24)

Jesus said in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Despite the troubles and trials that are a reality of life in a fallen world, faith in Jesus Christ gives every believer ultimate triumph over their temporal earthly circumstances and the assurance of an eternal heavenly home in our Lord's presence. By God's grace through trust in Jesus' supreme sacrifice for our sins, we are reborn spiritually and become new creations in Christ with transformed hearts that desire to love and serve and renewed minds that seek to do God's will, not our own. Good will ultimately overcome evil; faith in Christ is the victory that overcomes the world! Paul said in reference to Jesus in Romans 8:37, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

  Feed My Sheep ( June 14, 2024) “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11) Just as Jesus came not into this world to be served, but to serve mankind, we have been commissioned to humbly serve our Savior by spreading the gospel. The Good Shepherd has commanded all who have chosen to follow Him to “Feed My sheep.” (John 21:17) If we love Jesus and put Him above our earthly endeavors, the earnest desire of our heart should be to obey His call to feed each other spiritually! “ If you love Me, keep My commandments. ” (John 14:15) After serving His hungry disciples a hearty breakfast of bread and fish roasted on an open seaside fire, the risen L ORD Jesus restored Peter to fellowship after he had thrice denied Christ prior to His crucifixion.
