God Blesses Obedience (February 5, 2026)

“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:” (Deuteronomy 28:2)

It goes against the grain of our independent human nature and is difficult to do, but the surrender of the control of our lives to God is essential in order to pursue a lifestyle that pleases the LORD and fulfills His purpose for our lives. Jesus Christ put it in the simplest possible terms, saying: “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 15:14) Many people profess to love Christ, but, in practice, their worldly attitudes, behaviors, and self-centered efforts to control their own destinies do not match what they say. Obedience to God’s commands and His guidance of our lives according to His perfect will is the highest expression of genuine love for Christ, our LORD and Savior.

Throughout the Bible, God graciously promises to richly bless, now and eternally, those to seek to obey His commands and live by the truth of His Word. And, as Scripture repeatedly confirms, “He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23) The passing material pleasures and pursuits of this world ultimately leave us empty and unfulfilled, but God pours out blessings that far exceed anything we could have imagined when we live in harmony and obedience to Him. The psalmist wrote: “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You!” (Psalm 84:11-12) Trust and obey Him today, and be blessed, now and eternally!

  Pilgrims of Light ( June 9, 2023)   “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 3:20)   Children and heirs of God to an eternal inheritance, we as believers are not of this troubled world; we are merely pilgrims passing through the earth, waiting for “the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (Hebrews 11:10) Our citizenship is in Heaven, our salvation having been sealed since we first believed in Jesus Christ, accepted His sacrifice for our sins, and received God’s amazing grace! Our eternal destiny is secure, but until Jesus calls us home to be with Him forever, we must press on to complete the work that our Lord has commanded us to do as His earthly beacons, servants, and ambassadors.   As I reflect on our American heritage this Memorial Day, I thank God for the many courageous soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives so that we could live in the home of the brave and the land of the free, the United States of America! In their memory, let us pray that our great nation will return to her roots as “one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.” God bless America!
