Success as God Sees It (February 24, 2026)
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26)
We all seek to be successful in the pursuit of our personal desires, devotions, and dreams. Unfortunately, however, many folks make the mistake of viewing success from an earthly rather than a spiritual perspective. The secular world defines success as amassing great personal wealth, material possessions, influence, popularity, and self-gratification. These worldly values may satisfy for a season, but they ultimately pass away, leaving the pursuer empty and unsatisfied. God, on the other hand, measures success much differently, looking at the bounty of the human heart rather than one’s bank account or stock portfolio.
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (Proverbs 37:4)
To pursue success as God views it and attain rewards that are eternally valuable, one must accept His offer of grace through a profession of faith in His Son Jesus Christ Who died for our sins so we could have abundant and everlasting life. Once our salvation has been secured, the indwelling Holy Spirit gradually conforms the believer’s desires to God’s will and ultimately transforms the repentant sinner into the likeness of Christ. Spiritual success is defined by obedience to God motivated by selfless love! Such faithfulness allows us to accomplish the fulfilling earthly work God has called us to do while laying up eternal treasures that will be ours in heaven someday.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
